Gotze ready for hostile reception at Dortmund

The Germany international admits it will be tough to return to Signal Iduna Park but insists he is excited at the prospect of facing his former club with Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich attacker Mario Gotze is eagerly anticipating this weekend’s Bundesliga encounter with Borussia Dortmund, although he accepts he is in for a hostile reception.

The 21-year-old left BVB for Bayern in the summer transfer window and was heavily criticised by Dortmund fans for his decision to join the club’s domestic rivals.

While Gotze admits it will be tough to step back on to the pitch at Signal Iduna Park, he insists he is excited at the challenge of facing his old club and is fully prepared for the crowd’s reaction to his return.

“I am really excited about my return to Dortmund,” Gotze was quoted as saying by Kicker.

“It will probably be one of the most difficult moments of my career.

“I realise that I will not receive the warmest of receptions, but I will have to deal with it as it was my own decision to leave Dortmund.”

Gotze has established himself as an important player under Pep Guardiola after his initial struggles with injury this season, scoring two goals in 11 appearances in all competitions so far for FCB.
