Shaqiri: I must accept Bayern will not sell me

The Switzerland star has vowed to “give everything” for the Bundesliga champions after the club made it clear they would consider selling him

Xherdan Shaqiri says he must accept that Bayern Munich will not sell him and has vowed to give his utmost on the pitch for Pep Guardiola.

The Switzerland international was subject of a bid from Liverpool during the summer, while Juventus and Roma were also credited with an interest, after he had struggled to secure regular first-team football at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern went public with their desire to keep the 22-year-old, although new reports have emerged this week suggesting that Spanish champions Atletico Madrid will make an €18 million bid for his services.

Shaqiri, however, accepts that Bayern have made their stance clear over his future and is determined to “give everything” for the club this term.

“I’ve still got a contract until 2016 and the club have already told me I won’t be going anywhere so I’ve just got to accept that,” he told Sport1. “For as long as I am here, I will give everything I’ve got.

“I try to do my best in training and when the coach rewards me with appearances, like against Hannover, then that’s even better. I’m always delighted when I can start games, and I show that too, like I did this time. I think everybody could see how hungry I am to play football.”

Shaqiri set up Robert Lewandowski’s second goal with a stunning long-range pass in Bayern’s 4-0 win over Hannover at the weekend.
