The goalkeeper is dreaming of winning three titles in his first season at the club and wants European glory in particular
Marc-Andre ter Stegen feels Barcelona are on track to win the treble this season as they prepare for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
The Catalans, who currently hold a two-point lead over Real Madrid in La Liga, will face Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final, bvut first take on Bayern in the last four of European club football’s elite competition.
And Ter Stegen, who joined the Catalan side from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer, dreams of winning it all.
“We’ve made progress since the beginning of the season. We had a difficult start, then found some sort of consistency and I think we have gradually improved, also by performing in the Champions League,” the Germany international told Uefa’s official website.
“Now we find ourselves in a good position. We’re in a good position in the league, we’re in the final of the cup, and it couldn’t get much better than this. It would be nice to keep that going until the end of the season.”
The 23-year-old then went on to stress that winning the Champions League would be very special and he is hopeful Barcelona can achieve just that.
“The Champions League is always special. I believe every player, every fan, every coach wants this trophy. It is unbelievable and it is one of the greatest achievements you can have in football. And that is what we fight for every day.
“If we take it step by step and stay focused, also in the league, then we have a good chance. That’s our aim and we hope to reach and build on it.”
