Jupp Heynckes has stressed that Bayern Munich have moved on from their disastrous end to the 2011-12 campaign.
The Bavarians missed out on the Bundesliga title, DFB-Pokal and Champions League in dramatic fashion in the decisive stages of last term, but Heynckes has made it clear they’re completely focused on the new season.
“We’ve put last season behind us once and for all. We’ve restored our energy and motivation and we’re aiming at new targets,” Heynckes stated at a press conference.
The Bayern coach then looked ahead to the upcoming DFB-Pokal match versus Jahn Regensburg, and warned his side not to underestimate Monday’s opponents.
“I’m delighted it’s starting up again. Victory would give us a boost for the championship – and we’re going there to win.
“With their fans behind them, Regensburg will play beyond their normal limits, so we have to take them very, very seriously.”
Monday’s encounter kicks off at 20:30CET.
