Mathias Sammer has spoken out amidst the struggles that Bayern Munich have encountered in the battle to sign long-standing target Javi Martinez from Athletic Bilbao.
Whilst the Bavarians have confirmed that they are willing to bid €40 million for the player, talks have come to a halt as the Basque native’s desire to keep hold of their prime asset begin to circulate in the media.
And Sammer has now confirmed that Bilbao are currently in control of the situation and that the move is quite some way from completion.
“There is nothing to report at the moment, we must digest a few things but the move for Martinez is down to Bilbao,” Sammer told Sky Sports News HD.
“The transfer is nowhere near being completed, we made our position clear and Bilbao must now react.”
