Bayern Munich youngster Mitchell Weiser has spoken exclusively to Goal.com, and has given the first indication as to what Javi Martinez is like, just a few days into his Bundesliga career.
The 18-year-old midfielder spoke after the Bavarians’ crushing 6-1 victory over Stuttgart on Sunday, and was full of praise for his Spanish team-mate calling him a ‘nice guy’.
“He’s a very nice, quiet guy. I haven’t spoken with him that much, but he seems very personable,” he explained.
The former Koln man also explained his disappointment at not making a start for Jupp Heynckes’ side yet, but also commented on understanding his coach’s decision.
“Of course I would like to play,” he said. “But with a squad such as ours, you have to expect, as a young player, that you won’t always be in the squad. It is a shame, but I can accept it.
“Yes [the boss has spoken to me]. Martinez has come in, Franck [Ribery] has recovered from injury, I really don’t have much to say on it. I think it explains itself.”
Weiser signed for the Allianz Arena side in June, having made just one senior appearance for the Billy Goats last term.
