Jupp Heynckes: Strong words were said at half-time

Bayern Munich defeated Werder Bremen 2-0 in a tight Bundesliga clash to maintain their perfect record, which now stretches to nine games.

The victory did not come easy, though, as the Bavarians only clinched the three points late in the game, much to the disappointment of their trainer Jupp Heynckes. The retired striker revealed that he had a lot to say to his players at half-time, but made clear that he was delighted with the result.

“We slowed things down too much in the first half. The players tested my patience a little too much, but at the end of the day, it was enough to beat a strong Bremen side,” the coach told Bayern Munich’s official website.

“I had to use some strong language at half-time.”

Summer signings, Luiz Gustavo and Mario Mandzukic, found the net to give Bayern all three points. The Brazilian was pleased to get on the score sheet, but more encouraged by the win, stating that, “the opening goal helped us a lot, because we were in control again after that.”

Bayern Munich next play BATE in the Champions League group stages on Tuesday afternoon.
