Bundesliga Round 7 Results: Schalke bounce back as Augsburg shock Werder Bremen

Hamburg’s recent run of good form continued when Thorsten Fink’s side travelled to Bavaria to face Greuther Furth on Saturday.

It was the hosts who registered the first credible chance of the match, when Zoltan Stieber’s cross evaded both Edu and Sercan Sararer, and they soon fell behind when Son Heung-Min evaded a string of challenges, darted into the box, and rounded off a fantastic run by smashing the ball past Max Grun.

The Bavarians then squandered opportunities to go further ahead through Edu, Gerald Asamoah and Heinrich Schmidtgal, ensuring that Hamburg went into the break a goal to the good.

After the break, Rafael van der Vaart came close to extending his side’s lead, but Furth were culpable of more sloppy finishing when Stieber forced a great save from Rene Adler.

In the end, however, the second half ended up goalless, and Hamburg’s recent run of good results continued.
