Garcia: Lille – Bayern is like David versus Goliath

Rudi Garcia believes Lille face a task of biblical proportions to get a good result from Tuesday’s Champions League match at home against Bayern Munich.

The Ligue 1 side lost their opening two group stage games against BATE Borisov and Valencia respectively, and the 480year-old has admitted that preventing another defeat could be a tough job.

“We are playing one of the biggest sides in Europe so we will have to give it 120 per cent and Bayern will have to have an off day if we want to get a positive result,” he said at a press conference.

“It is David versus Goliath. The most important thing for us is to believe we can do it. The only star in our club is our team.”

Garcia then went on to single out Franck Ribery as Bayern Munich’s biggest attacking threat, uut added that the Frenchman is not the Bavarians’ only dangerous player.

“Ribery is a tremendous player, but he is not the only one Bayern have – it will be hard to defend against [Thomas] Muller, [Toni] Kroos, etc, as well.

“We will have to try to prevent Ribery from getting the ball, but there will be no ‘anti-Ribery’ plan.”

Tuesday’s match kicks off at 20:45CET.
