Rafinha has made it clear that Bayern Munich are determined to fight for silverware after an unsuccessful 2011-2012 campaign.
The Bavarians missed out on the Bundesliga title, DFB Pokal and Champions League last term, and the defender revealed that the team passionately desires to make amends this season.
“Bayern’s objective is to win titles. We came up short in three competitions last term, but we are hungry for success, and everybody is willing to give their all in order to do better this time around,” Rafinha told Goal.com.
“Our main goal in the Champions League for now is reach the knockout stages. We’re in a difficult group with three teams that are level on points. Once we’ve survived the group stage, we have as much chance of success as any other team.”
The right-back then went on to look ahead to the Bundesliga match versus Borussia Dortmund on December 1, and stressed that Bayern can beat the reigning champions.
“We already beat them for the German Supercup this season. Obviously, they are a great team and are the reigning champions. We are playing very well, though, and we can beat anyone in our current form.”
Rafinha also discussed his plans for the future and made it clear that he’s happy at Bayern for now.
“I haven’t thought about leaving Bayern yet. I made 35 appearances last year, but missed two months due to injury this season. It’s hard to break into the team again with so many stars around, and when the team is in fine form.
“I have a contract until June 2014, though, and I intend to honour it.”
Rafinha has made only four official appearances for FCB so far this term due to his injury problems.
