Bayern Munich skipper Philipp Lahm has urged his team-mates to put the team’s interests ahead of their own personal goals.
The Germany international believes that it is inevitable that certain players will grow dissatisfied with their lack of regular first team action, but has insisted that the team is all that matters.
“You’ll always get unhappy players, but egos have to take a back seat,” Lahm was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
“We have tremendous depth. We could even put out a second line-up perfectly good enough to be the starting team.”
Lahm then went on to stress that Bayern must be on top of their game in the second half of the season in order to successfully defend top spot in the Bundesliga.
“We can’t afford to drop points, especially at the start. We can make it incredibly tough for the other teams to knock us off the top,” he added.
