At the back, Mats Hummels put his midweek defensive lapse behind him as Dortmund beat Frankfurt 3-0, Georg Niedermeier was a rock as Stuttgart ended their poor run of form at Hoffenheim, and Slobodan Rajkovic vindicated Thorsten Fink’s decision to bring him back into the first team with an excellent showing against Gladbach.
Three midfielders make their first appearances of the season in our XI. Daniel Caligiuri was on target for Freiburg against Werder Bremen, Ibrahima Traore was another one of Stuttgart’s stars, while Michel Bastos continued his assured start to Bundesliga football with two goals for Schalke at Mainz.
