Bayern on 'right track' after Dortmund win – Sammer

The Bavarian side’s sporting director is happy with his team’s progress and says they have the form and quality to see off the challenge of 1899 Hoffenheim in the DFB-Pokal Cup

Bayern Munich’s sporting director Matthias Sammer believes his side are likely to advance to the final of the DFB-Pokal cup, and says their win over Borussia Dortmund has further boosted the team’s confidence.

Sammer’s side defeated Jurgen Klopp’s Dortmund outfit 1-0 on Wednesday to progress to a semi-final tie against 1899 Hoffenheim, and the 45-year-old believes it was a victory that will have a positive effect on the rest of the team’s season.

“This victory adds to our self-belief – it confirms we’re on the right track,” Sammer told FCB.tv.

The former Dortmund player also expressed his optimism about his side’s clash against Hoffenheim, adding: “I was pleased with training today, they were really giving it their all.

“We have to keep doing what we’ve been doing, but I’m optimistic we can [win].”

Bayern are enjoying an impressive season so far, and currently lie 17 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

Die Roten also look set to progress in the Champions League following a confident and comprehensive 3-1 defeat of Arsenal in their first leg clash.
