The Bavarians could be crowned German champions this weekend if results work in their favour, but the BVB boss is determined to put the champagne on ice for a little longer
Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has asserted that he will not congratulate Bayern Munich if they secure the Bundesliga title on Sunday night.
The Bavarians are runaway leaders in the German top flight with a 20-point advantage over the reigning champions after 26 matches, and could wrap up the title this weekend if they beat Hamburg and BVB fail to triumph at Stuttgart.
But while the 45-year-old is aware of the permutations, he does not want Dortmund to be prematurely stripped of their Bundesliga crown and hopes they can delay Bayern’s celebrations for at least another round of fixtures.
“I will happily congratulate them, but not on Saturday because we want to beat Stuttgart first,” Klopp told Ruhr-Nachrichten.
“It seems that Stuttgart always step up their performance against BVB. Games against them are always very intense.”
