Voller: Bayern can win the Champions League

The Leverkusen director feels the Bavarian giants could go all the way in Europe, and is not surprised by their domestic dominance

Former Germany international Rudi Voller believes Bayern Munich have what it takes to win the Champions League this season.

The Bundesliga leaders missed out on European glory last term as Chelsea won on penalties, but Voller feels they could go all the way this time around.

“The opponents in the Champions League are obviously of better calibre [than in the Bundesliga], but Bayern already made it to the final last term, and they were unlucky to lose,” Voller told Ran.

“The Champions League title is definitely a realistic goal for them.

“It is hard to predict which team will go all the way, but I’d say that a final between Bayern and Barcelona is the most likely outcome.”

The Bayer Leverkusen director then went on to stress that Bayern’s Bundesliga success is not surprising, given the talent they have available.

“It’s not a surprise that Bayern are set to win the Bundesliga title after missing out on the domestic title in the past two seasons when you look at the quality of their team,” he added.

“I already had them down as the big favourites ahead of the season. Obviously, I did not expect them to lead by such a big margin.”

Bayern will be crowned Bundesliga champions this weekend if they beat Hamburg and second-placed Borussia Dortmund spill points against Stuttgart.
