The holding midfielder has admitted FCB deservedly dethroned Dortmund and hopes to take on their Bundesliga rivals in the Champions League final
Sebastian Kehl believes that Bayern Munich fully deserve this season’s Bundesliga title after they were beaten to domestic glory by Borussia Dortmund in the previous two campaigns.
The Bavarians beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at the weekend to clinch their 23rd Bundesliga title in history and Kehl has admitted that Bayern have been in sublime form all season.
“It was to be expected that Bayern would win the league soon, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to see it happen this weekend,” Kehl told the official Bundesliga website.
“You have to admit that they’ve been playing very consistently this season. They’ve been playing really well and convincingly and therefore deserve to be German champions, even at this very early stage.
“I believe they deserve it as much as we did in the previous two years.”
The midfielder then went on to discuss Dortmund’s chances in the Champions League and stated that he hopes for a final against Bayern.
“We could face Bayern up to three times, but I’d prefer it to be two as it would mean both teams would stand in the Champions League final. Let’s wait and see.
“First of all, we’ll be playing Malaga on Tuesday. That’ll be a very difficult task which we should fully focus and concentrate on.”
Dortmund held Malaga to a scoreless draw at La Rosaleda in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
