Bundesliga Team of the Week: Gotze & Kuba decisive for Dortmund

Goal.com picks out the best talent on show in Germany from a weekend when BVB and Bayern Munich both recorded crushing wins

Bayern Munich may have finally wrapped up the Bundesliga title but there was still a lot to play for in the German top flight on matchday 29. The champions and Borussia Dortmund recorded crushing wins over Nurnberg and Greuther Furth respectively, while in the race for fourth, Freiburg won but Frankfurt and Schalke both spilled points. And Goal.com was there to salute those worthy of a place in its Team of the Week.

In goal, Timo Hildebrand made a number of saves as Schalke came from behind to claim a crucial point against Bayer Leverkusen at the Veltins Arena.

Jerome Boateng scored the second Bundesliga goal of his career to get the ball rolling for Bayern in the Bavarian derby, Antonio Rudiger showcased his potential with a solid performance for Stuttgart against Borussia Monchengladbach, while Paul Verhaegh was a solid presence as Augsburg claimed three vital points against Frankfurt.

Fresh from their midweek exploits against Malaga, Dortmund beat Furth 6-1 with Mario Gotze and Jakub ‘Kuba’ Blaszczykowski putting in performances of the highest level. They are joined in midfield by Jonathan Schmid of Freiburg and Ji Dong-Won of Augsburg, who scored twice.

Ji’s fellow South Korean, Hamburg’s Son Heung-Min also found the net twice, Claudio Pizarro was a destructive influence for Bayern, and Stefan Reisinger, another double-goal hero, this time for Fortuna Dusseldorf against Werder Bremen.
