Muller targets 'crowning' Champions League success

The midfielder believes success in Europe would be the perfect end to a wonderful campaign

Thomas Muller has revealed that Bayern Munich are determined to “crown” their season by lifting the Champions League.

The Bavarians have already sealed the Bundesliga title and reached the final of the DFB-Pokal and will face Barcelona in the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday.

“We want to crown our season, so we’ll go to the limit in every respect, myself included,” the 23-year-old told the club’s official website.

“We’re aiming high and we’re looking forward to this tough task.

“We have to keep it tight at the back and keep a clean sheet at home if possible. That’s the be-all and end-all if we want to make the final.

“And I really don’t care whether we play pretty football or not. The only thing that matters is the result. I’m optimistic, but everyone knows it’ll hardly be a stroll.

Muller does not expect the Catalans to pay his side too much respect, despite their impressive campaign to date, but believes their efforts will not have gone unnoticed.

“Barca are confident enough in themselves not to be looking at us. But they won’t have failed to notice we’re in scintillating form,” added.

“Things are really running perfectly. We’re playing without a care in the world, and despite already wrapping up the title, the positive tension is very, very high.

“Everyone’s hurling themselves into it. And we possess immense quality, as you can currently see in every match.”
