Bundesliga Team of the Week: Huntelaar back with a bang for Schalke

Goal.com picks out the best talent from across the German top flight as the season begins to draw to a close

The race for a top-four finish in the Bundesliga is heating up. With Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach all slipping up, Schalke recorded a great 4-1 victory over Hamburg to boost their chances. And there was talent from across Germany worthy of inclusion in Goal.com‘s Team of the Week.

Mitchell Langerak was given a rare start for Borussia Dortmund and the Australian goalkeeper made the most of his appearance, making some great saves as his side claimed a 2-1 derby win over Fortuna Dusseldorf.

At the back, Frankfurt’s Constant Djakpa put in a fine performance during Sunday’s stalemate with Mainz and Joel Matip was in fine form once again for Schalke at the Veltins Arena. Freiburg may have lost to Bayern Munich, but Fallou Diagne was in fine form, limiting the Bavarians to just the one goal.

Hoffenheim’s chances of survival were boosted by a 2-1 win over Nurnberg, with Tobias Weis putting in a particularly impressive showing, Lars Bender bossed the midfield as Bayer Leverkusen heaped more misery on relegation-threatened Werder Bremen, Nuri Sahin scored a spectacular goal for BVB and Tobias Werner was a destructive force for Augsburg during their 3-0 win over Stuttgart.

Xherdan Shaqiri was the best player on the park at the Allianz Arena, Nikola Durdic put in one of his best performances of the season as Greuther Furth lost to Hannover and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar produced the display of the weekend, scoring a hat-trick for Schalke.
