Dante: Barcelona will be desperate for revenge

The Brazilian defender has insisted that Bayern must remain focused if they are to reach the final and added that they must stay close to Lionel Messi at all times

Bayern Munich defender Dante has warned against complacency ahead of the second leg of the Champions League semi-final tie against Barcelona.

The Bundesliga champions recorded a 4-0 win in the first leg at the Allianz Arena, but the Brazilian realises that the Catalans will be fired up to make amends in Wednesday’s return at Camp Nou.

“The Spaniards will be very motivated and aggressive. We put in a good performance [in the first leg] against Barcelona, but we must remain alert. We have to be focused right until the end in order to qualify for the final,” he told Kicker.

“Barca will be desperate for revenge. They will do whatever is necessary to get back into the tie, but we cannot let them surprise us. One thing’s for sure, though, and that is that it’s up to Barca to attack.”

Bayern kept Lionel Messi quiet in last week’s first leg and Dante has stressed that they cannot afford to allow the Argentine attacker any space in the return either.

“The key thing was not waiting to come at you with the ball at his feet. You have to try and attack him as soon as possible.”

Wednesday’s match at Camp Nou kicks off at 20:45CET.
