The Bayern Munich supremo wants the Germany international to shake off his injury problems in time for the match against his future club
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hopes that Mario Gotze will be match fit in time to contest the Champions League final for Borussia Dortmund.
The attacking midfielder sustained a hamstring injury in BVB’s 2-0 away loss against Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the competition and has since been out of action.
The 20-year-old resumed individual training on Monday, though, and Dortmund are hopeful that he will be fine to take on Bayern at Wembley, much to the satisfaction of Rummenigge.
“I really hope that Gotze will play the final,” the Bayern boss told Bild.
Gotze will leave Dortmund for Bayern in the summer transfer window, but Rummenigge does not think that his imminent transfer will distract him ahead of the final.
“I think he will be able to get the transfer off his mind.”
The Champions League final will be played on May 25 in London.
