Arthur Boka is confident that Stuttgart have what it takes to spring a surprise in Saturday’s DFB-Pokal final against Bayern Munich and bring a halt to their treble hunt.
Jupp Heynckes’ men have already wrapped up the Bundesliga and Champions League and will be looking to make it three out of three at the weekend, but the defender is insistent that Stuttgart will do their utmost to cause an upset.
“Bayern are obviously the favourites, but we will get our chances as well. We head into the game with the intention to show that we can compete. We are relaxed and optimistic,” Boka told Goal.
“We have to make sure that they cannot play their own game. We should follow Borussia Dortmund’s example in the opening stages of the Champions League final. Bayern were forced to play long balls due to BVB’s pressing.
“It could be an advantage that we are the underdogs. Everything’s possible in football. We have nothing to lose and can only win here.
“A lot of people think the match is already decided, but we can spring a surprise. We have always shown up on the big occasions.”
Saturday’s match in Berlin is scheduled to kick off at 20:45CET.
