Ribery proud to make history with Bayern

The France international was joined by Phillip Lahm and Franz Beckenbauer in celebrating an unprecedented and memorable treble this season

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery was left ecstatic after his side rounded off an historic treble with Saturday’s 3-2 triumph against Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal final.

Goals from Thomas Muller and Mario Gomez saw die Roten add the domestic cup to their Bundesliga and Champions League crowns, and Ribery was quick to hail the magnitude of his team’s exploits.

“I feel super good. I’m just so happy,” the France international declared to Sky. “It is an historic success for Bavaria and all the fans.

“I want to remain here for as long as possible.”

Club captain Phillip Lahm added that his side’s efforts on and off the pitch had been duly rewarded: “There were gruelling, hard months, but we have been rewarded for our work in recent weeks.

“Today is not a time for analysis. We knew the great opportunity in the week [preceeding the cup final in Berlin] for us to make Bundesliga history.

“Never has a German team ever brought back a treble.”

Honourary president Franz Beckenbauer was just as magnanimous in his praise, acknowledging that this is likely the greatest moment in the club’s illustrious history.

“I think these times have been Bayern’s best,” he said.

“I cannot remember a season that went so well before, like this. [Jupp] Heynckes is the father of all this success. It is not possible for him to deal with the players any better.”
