The winger says he’ll never forget being jeered by supporters during pre-season following his penalty miss in last season’s Champions League final defeat to Chelsea
Arjen Robben has revealed he is still hurt by Bayern Munich’s boo-boys after winning the treble with victory over Stuttgart in Saturday’s DFB-Pokal final.
The Netherlands winger played an instrumental role during the latter stages of winning the Bundesliga and Champions League, where he scored the winner against Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley.
But the 29-year-old also explained his hurt after being jeered by the Bavarians’ support for missing a crucial penalty in the previous Champions League final against Chelsea.
“We have a great team that is outstanding, and I am proud to be part of this team that was in another final,” Robben was quoted as saying to ARD.
“It was not easy playing after the Champions League final [against Borussia Dortmund], but I think we deserved to win tonight.
“I will never forget the whistles [during pre-season] that I still find really bad though. I have given everything for this club, for these guys.”
Robben had found himself relegated to the bench at the start of the campaign, but an injury to Toni Kroos gave him the chance to re-establish himself in Jupp Heynckes’ plans.
