The 19-year-old has explained his decision to leave Bayern Munich this summer and is keen to follow the same path as his former team-mate
Emre Can has revealed that Toni Kroos played a big role in his decision to leave Bayern Munich for Bayer Leverkusen.
Kroos wore the Werkself jersey from 2009 until 2010 before returning to Bayern – where he has since developed into a key player – and Can is keen to follow in the footsteps of the Germany international.
“I spoke with Toni Kroos about it at Bayern and he advised me to make the move. He also told me to live in Koln,” Can was quoted was saying by Bild.
“The people at Leverkusen made it clear that they really wanted me and said they needed me.
“My goal is to help Leverkusen qualify for European football again this season. I want to help the team.”
Can signed a contract with Leverkusen until June 2017, but Bayern have the option to re-sign him for a set fee at some point in the future.
