Centurion Lahm is an 'absolute leader', says Low

The 53-year-old has lauded his skipper as the 29-year-old prepares to make a landmark appearance for die Mannschaft

Germany boss Joachim Low has heralded captain Philipp Lahm as an “absolute leader” ahead of the defender’s 100th cap for his country.

The Bayern Munich ace is set to become a centurio in Friday’s World Cup qualifier with Austria, making him just the ninth German to achieve the feat.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the clash at the Allianz Arena, Low praised Lahm for his leadership skills and consistency throughout his nine-year spell with die Mannschaaft.

“Philipp Lahm has been the model of consistency for almost 10 years,” the Germany boss told a press conference.

“He has a natural authority and assumes responsibility. He is very communicative and an absolute leader.”

Germany’s meeting with Austra is scheduled to kick off at 20:45 CET.
