Bundesliga Team of the Week: Dortmund dominate after Hamburg rout

Goal picks out the best performers from across Germany after another thrilling weekend of action in the top flight

The 2013-14 Bundesliga season is well and truly shaping up to be one of the best ever after another gripping instalment this weekend. Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund marched on, Schalke’s revival continued and Bayern overcame a plucky Hannover. And, across Germany, there were plenty of individual performances of note.

First up in Goal‘s Team of the Week is Stuttgart goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, who was absolutely key for his side during their 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin in the capital on Friday as their reversal of fortunes under Thomas Schneider continued.

The defence features three men from three different clubs. David Abraham was the star of the show for Hoffenheim in their 2-1 triumph over Borussia Monchengladbach, Benedikt Howedes was a rock for Schalke against Mainz and Bastian Oczipka was on song for Eintracht Frankfurt, who claimed an impressive 3-0 win over Werder Bremen.

In midfield, we have Arjen Robben of Bayern Munich, Stuttgart’s Christian Gentner, Oczipka’s team-mate Sebastian Rode and Marco Reus, who is finally hitting top form for Borussia Dortmund.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued his flying start to life at BVB, scoring his fifth Bundesliga goal in as many games during the 6-2 drubbing of Hamburg, with Robert Lewandowski also netting a double for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Finally, last season’s top scorer Stefan Kiessling also stole the headlines after finding the back of the net for the fourth time this term.
