The Peruvian attacker believes Schalke can spring a surprise against the reigning champions and has hailed the arrival of Kevin-Prince Boateng

Schalke attacker Jefferson Farfan is optimistic about his side’s chances of causing an upset in this weekend’s Bundesliga match against Bayern Munich.
The Gelsenkirchen side have been struggling to find their best form domestically in the opening weeks of the 2013-14 campaign and currently sit ninth in the league table with seven points from five games, whereas Bayern are still unbeaten and sit second with 13 points.
Nevertheless, Farfan believes that anything is possible for Schalke at the Veltins Arena on Saturday.
“We obviously will give our all, but we face one of the best teams in Europe. They’re German champions and title holders in the Champions League,” Farfan told Goal.
“We are playing at home, though, and anything is possible with the support of our fans. We will give our utmost to record a win.”
The Peru international then went on to hail the arrival of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Dennis Aogo, but remained cautious about Schalke’s title chances.
“Boateng and Aogo have a lot of quality. They’ve improved the team. Kevin adds a lot in attack and brings creativity to the team. He makes us even stronger,” he continued.
“But I won’t say that we can win the Bundesliga title now. We are taking things one step at a time and we’ll see how things pan out.”
Farfan also briefly discussed Schalke’s Champions League ambitions and stressed that making it to the knockout stages is their main goal for now.
He added: “We want to progress from the group stages at all costs. It would be great if we could win our section but it would be alright if we came in second as well. The key thing is that we progress.”
Schalke beat Steaua Bucharest 3-0 on Wednesday to open their European campaign and lock horns with Basel, who shocked Chelsea, on matchday two.
