Goal picks out the best the best performers from Germany after a weekend which saw Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen claim big wins
The big winners of the sixth round of Bundesliga action were Bayern Munich, who went joint-top of the table with a barnstorming 4-0 triumph at Schalke as Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach recorded impressive wins, and the three teams dominate Goal‘s Team of the Week.
Raphael Schafer takes the No.1 shirt after the Nurnberg captain helped his side record a surprise 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund with a number of impressive saves.
Two of the full-backs in front of him are Bayern stars. Many questioned Rafinha‘s continued inclusion, but the Brazilian put in one of the best peformances of his Roten career at the Veltins Arena, while David Alaba continued his fine recent form. Naldo of Wolfsburg completes the back three.
Bayer Leverkusen beat Mainz 4-1 on Saturday and two of the three midfielders are Werkself stars. Simon Rolfes and Lars Bender were all brilliant for Sami Hyypia’s side, with the latter notching a rare goal in the Coface Arena rout. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Marco Russ joins the duo.
There are three attacking midfielders. Robbie Kruse joins his B04 team-mates after notching two of his side’s goals, while Gladbach duo Raffael and Max Kruse were both key in the 4-1 win over Eintracht Braunschweig on Friday.
Finally, Nils Petersen leads the line after leading Werder Bremen to derby day victory over Hamburg at the Imtech Arena to relieve the pressure on Robin Dutt.
