Kroos: Bayern on another level

The Germany international has hailed his side’s fine form in the Champions League after Wednesday’s win at the Allianz Arena

Toni Kroos feels Bayern Munich were on another level to Viktoria Plzen after beating the Czech outfit 5-0 on Wednesday.

Goals from Franck Ribery and David Alaba helped Bayern to a 2-0 lead at half-time before Ribery struck for a second time, with Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Gotze making it five after the break and Kroos believes things could have been much worse for Viktoria.

“Our opponents weren’t on the same level as us but it’s not easy to win 5-0 in the Champions League, so we did well,” Kroos told the official Uefa website.

“The Champions League is always good fun, even when you don’t win by such a big margin. We were far superior tonight and to be honest we should have been further ahead by half-time, but we can be satisfied.”

Kroos then went on to praise Gotze following yet another impressive substitute cameo and is confident the former Borussia Dortmund star will become a key player at Bayern.

“Mario Gotze is improving with every game. It’s important that he stays fit and keeps playing. If he can do that then I’m sure we’re going to enjoy plenty of good times to come with him.”

Gotze has made seven appearances for Bayern so far, scoring once in the process.
