Dortmund don't stand a chance against Bayern, says Magath

The former Wolfsburg coach has little doubt the reigning champions will prove to be too strong for their great rivals in this weekend’s showdown at Signal Iduna Park

Felix Magath believes that Borussia Dortmund do not stand a chance against Bayern Munich in Saturday’s eagerly-awaited Bundesliga clash.

Both sides are without a number of key players due to injury, with Neven Subotic, Mats Hummels, Marcel Schmelzer, Ilkay Gundogan all missing out for Die Schwarzgelben, and their Bavarian rivals having to travel without Bastian Schweinsteiger, Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri.

However, Magath has stressed that Dortmund’s longer list of absentees will not affect the outcome of the game at Signal Iduna Park, as he feels Bayern are too good for Jurgen Klopp’s side anyway.

“It’s very unfortunate that Hummels has picked up a serious knock, but his absence will not be decisive against Bayern. Borussia Dortmund would not stand a chance with him either. Bayern are simply too strong,” Magath told TZ.

“The title race wasn’t exciting last year either. First place belongs to Bayern, with Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen fighting it out for second. Anything can happen below that.”

Saturday’s match at the Signal Iduna Park is scheduled to kick off at 18:30CET.
