Guardiola: Bayern struggled early on at Hannover

The Spaniard was pleased with the way in which the Bavarians recovered from a poor start to record an ultimately comfortable win that moved them 19 points clear

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that his side’s 4-0 Bundesliga win over Hannover on Sunday was not as easy as the final scoreline suggests.

Thomas Muller gave the Bavarians the lead after 25 minutes of play before Thiago Alcantara made it two shortly after. Muller and Mario Mandzukic then put the match to bed after the interval.

“The opening minutes of the game are always difficult. It took us a while to find our rhythm,” Guardiola said at a press conference. “But we put in a great performance after the opener.

“We had the chance to extend our lead over our rivals in the Bundesliga and I am happy that the guys seized the opportunity.”

Bayern now hold a 19-point lead over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen. The Bavarians will resume their Bundesliga campaign away to Augsburg on March 1.
