HSV celebrated the appointment of Mirko Slomka by thrashing Jurgen Klopp’s side as Thomas Muller and Rafinha both shone for Bayern Munich
It was another brilliant week for Bayern Munich, who went even further clear of the Bundesliga after beating Hannover 4-0 following losses for Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. And there were extraordinary performances across Germany worth including in Goal‘s Team of the Week.
In goal, we have Raphael Schafer, whose Nurnberg team took likelier and likelier to survive after beating relegation rivals Eintracht Braunschweig 2-1 in Bavaria courtesy of the German’s two penalty saves.
Hamburg pulled off the result of the week by beating Borussia Dortmund 3-0 following new coach Mirko Slomka’s arrival and one of their defenders, Slobodan Rajkovic, makes the cut. Next to him at centre-back is Sebastian Prodl, who helped Werder Bremen keep a rare clean sheet. In the right and centre-back slots, we have Bayern star Rafinha and Augsburg’s Paul Verhaegh, who chipped in with a goal and an assist in the 4-2 win over Freiburg.
Tolgay Arslan was at the heart of everything in Hamburg’s midfield, while Luiz Gustavo led Wolfsburg to a win 3-1 win over Leverkusen, scoring the second goal himself. Thomas Muller followed up his goal at Arsenal in midweek with a double for Bayern, Hakan Calhanoglu rounded off HSV’s win and Halil Altintop, was also on target for Augsburg.
Finally, the striker is Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who found the target and led the line brilliantly for Hamburg as they stunned BVB to end their eight-game losing streak.
