The BVB CEO is unhappy with his side’s performances this term and he’s determined to make life hard for Bayern again in the future
Hans-Joachim Watzke says Borussia Dortmund must do more in an attempt to end Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga dominance.
BVB finished second last season but came home a staggering 25 points behind their Bavarian rivals, who are proving just as formidable this term, with Pep Guardiola’s men currently 20 points clear of die Schwarzgelben at the summit of the standings.
However, Watzke refuses to accept that Bayern are too strong for Jurgen Klopp’s troops and has urged them to put up more of a fight in the future.
“It is hardly encouraging when you are seemingly happy to settle for second spot. With all due respect, but we will have to stand up and show more of a fighting spirit in the future,” the Dortmund CEO told Sport Bild.
“I really rate what Bayern are doing and have done, but that does not mean that we – and all other Bundesliga teams – will just have to sit back and accept the situation.
“It is our job to make things difficult for Bayern once more. We must have the ambition to beat Bayern again.”
Dortmund won the Bundesliga title in 2010-11 and 2011-12, but have since struggled to keep up with Bayern.
