Bundesliga Team of the Week: Hummels leads Dortmund to victory

The Germany defender found the target for Jurgen Klopp’s side and stars in our weekly XI alongside the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger

The 26th matchday of the Bundesliga saw some thrilling action across Germany, with Bayern, Dortmund and Schalke all winning, but Bayer Leverkusen’s poor run of continued with a shambolic 3-2 loss at home to Hoffenheim.

Mainz keeper Loris Karius takes the gloves in Goal‘s Team of the Week thanks to a brilliant performance against Bayern, whom Mainz held until the dying minutes only to lose in disheartening fashion.

Young defender Kaan Ayhan put in an accomplished performance for Schalke in the 3-1 victory over Eintracht Braunschweig and is joined by Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, who scored the opener in a 3-0 win over Hannover. The back line is completed by Alexander Madlung, also on target in Frankfurt’s win over Nurnberg.

Stefan Aigner got two assists for Armin Veh’s side, Leon Goretzka opened the scoring for S04, Bastian Schweinsteiger broke the deadlock late on Bayern and Kevin Grosskreutz was his usual industrious self on the wing for Dortmund.

Raffael‘s wonderful season for Borussia Monchengladbach continued with a goal in the 3-0 win over Hertha, Joselu got two for Frankfurt and Admir Mehmedi led Freiburg to a much-needed victory over Werder Bremen.
