Goal picks out the best performers from a weekend which saw Bayern Munich’s long winning run come to an end against Hoffenheim
Bayern Munich dropped points for the first time in nigh on six months on Saturday when Hoffenheim got an unlikely 3-3 draw at the Allianz Arena. Elsewhere, Dortmund came from behind to win 3-2 at Stuttgart, Schalke saw off Hertha Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen were held by struggling Eintracht Braunschweig.
Hamburg may have lost 3-1 at Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday, but Rene Adler still takes the No.1 shirt in Goal‘s Team of the Week after making a number of saves for Mirko Slomka’s side.
Mainz right-back Niko Bungert is the first defender on the team sheet after scoring in his side’s 3-0 win over Augsburg. Alvaro Dominguez was also on the scoresheet for Gladbach and Naldo struck a spectacular goal for Wolfsburg. The final defender is Braunschweig’s Ken Reichel.
His team-mate Mirko Boland lines up in midfield alongside Johannes Geis, who capped a fine display for Mainz with a goal. Ahead of them are Chinedu Obasi, the key to Schalke’s victory over Hertha, Roberto Firmino, in fine form for Hoffenheim and Marco Reus, who scored a hat-trick to save Dortmund from what seemed like a certain defeat at Stuttgart.
Finally, Bayern may have curtailed their winning run, but Claudio Pizarro impressed on a rare start for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring twice.
