Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that he will stay true to his own philosophy and has hinted that he is willing to leave if the club feels he is no longer the right man for the job.
The former Barcelona coach has been heavily criticised for his possession-based style of play in the aftermath of Bayern’s 5-0 Champions League semi-final defeat against Real Madrid.
Nevertheless, Guardiola has no intention of changing his philosophy in order to keep the Bayern hierarchy happy.
“I have my own philosophy and we will use my philosophy against Hamburg, against Stuttgart, in the DFB-Pokal final and next year.
“I cannot be Bayern coach if I have to say things I don’t agree with. That would be bad for the club and for the players, who are intelligent. They wouldn’t trust me if I wasn’t true to myself.
“It’s up to the club to decide whether I’m the right coach for this club. That’s not up to me.”
Guardiola guided Bayern to the Bundesliga title in his first season in charge, while they can still win the domestic double as well. They take on Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal on May 17.
