Lewandowski reveals Gotze understanding

The Poland international played alongside his new team-mate during their time at Borussia Dortmund and doesn’t think it will be long before they are on the same wavelength again

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has warned the rest of Europe that him and Mario Gotze are ready to reignite the partnership that made them such a force at Borussia Dortmund.

The pair played alongside one another at Signal Iduna Park between 2010 and 2013 before Gotze joined Bayern last summer, with Lewandowski following him when his BVB contract expired at the end of the season.

Together they lifted two Bundesliga titles and the DFB-Pokal and the Poland striker has revealed his excitement at the prospect of them linking up again on the pitch.

“It’s a lot better both for me and for Gotze that we will be playing together again,” Lewandowski was quoted as saying by Bild.

“His goal in the World Cup final was the best thing that could happen to Mario. But regardless of who you are and what you have won, you must keep going and give your all.

“It’s amazing when you get the chance to play alongside a world champion like Mario – and there will even be six champions at Bayern.

“But I have already had the chance to play with Mario before in Dortmund. We get along really well and understand each other on the pitch.”

Lewandowski, 25, could make his official Bundesliga debut for Bayern in their season’s opener against Wolfsburg on August 22.
