Robben: I'm still not fit to play

The Dutchman says he is raring to go for the new season but warns that he needs more time before he is in peak condition after the World Cup

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has revealed he is still not fully fit after his exploits with Netherlands in the World Cup this summer.

The Dutchman was one of the stars of the tournament as Louis van Gaal’s men reached the semi-finals of the competition, only to suffer penalty shoot-out heartbreak at the hands of Argentina.

Robben,30, missed the DFL-Supercup clash against Borussia Dortmund and feels that the needs to work on his fitness before representing the Bavarians.

Robben was named among the final three contenders for Uefa’s Best Player in Europe award on Thursday.
