The centre-back believes Dieter Hecking’s men will prove to be a tough opponent in their opening match on Friday and is delighted to be on the verge of his Bundesliga comeback
Holger Badstuber has warned that Bayern Munich cannot afford to underestimate Wolfsburg in Friday’s Bundesliga opener.
The reigning champions kick off their title defence with a match against Dieter Hecking’s men at the Allianz Arena and Badstuber is aware of Wolfsburg’s potential heading into Friday’s encounter.
“Wolfsburg are dangerous, because they’ve brought in a lot of potential in recent years,” the 25-year-old told the official Bayern website.
“They have plenty of hungry players who are aiming high.”
Badstuber has missed much of the last two years due to two serious knee injuries and is now eagerly anticipating his return to league action after making an appearance in the DFB-Pokal win over Preussen Munster.
“I’ve worked towards this for a very long time and I’m looking forward to it. I still have a lot of work to do, but I am delighted to be 100 perc ent part of the team again. It makes me very happy.
“I am ready to play if called upon and I’d be delighted if that faith was placed in me.”
Badstuber last featured in a Bundesliga game for Bayern on Deccember 1 2012 in the 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund.
