The Germany international has been in superb form this term and the club chairman is confident this will be his breakthrough season
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is hopeful that Bayern Munich will see the real Mario Gotze at last following his fine start to the 2014-15 campaign.
The Germany international, 22, struggled to live up to the high expectations in his first season at the Bundesliga champions after his move from rivals Borussia Dortmund.
However, Gotze has already netted three goals in five Bundesliga appearances in 2014-15 and Rummenigge is confident he is ready to fulfil his enormous potential at last.
“When you come to Bayern at the age of 21, you are obviously not at the peak of your career just yet,” Rummenigge was quoted as saying by TZ.
“You have to give a young player like him the time to adapt to his new surroundings.
“I think there’s a good chance that he’s made a breakthrough now and that we will see the real Gotze from here on.
“I hope both for him and for Bayern that he can keep up the form that he has displayed in the past few games.”
Gotze has a contract with Bayern until June 2017.
