I need to leave Bayern – Hojbjerg

The 19-year-old says he needs to make the next step in his career to further his development after two years with the Bundesliga champions

Bayern Munich youngster Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has revealed that he wants to leave the Bundesliga side in order to gain regular playing time.

The 19-year-old joined the Bavarian giants in 2012, making 19 appearances for the first-team to date.

The Denmark international says he has improved a great deal at the Munich club, but feels he has to take the next step in his career to further his development.

“I think the time has come for me to go,” Hojbjerg told Kicker. “I have learnt everything here, Bayern are the best school around, but I feel ready now to take the leap.

“I want to really get started. The quality of this Bayern team is so high, maybe it’s not the right time for me here.

“I want to learn, to get better – I need to play matches to do that.”

The teenager’s agent, Soren Lerby, says the pair will look to make a decision on his future in the coming weeks.

“At the end of November we will sit down together and we will see,” he said. “It is clear that Pierre need games regularly.”

Augsburg, Hannover and Borussia Monchengladbach have all been linked to the midfielder.
