The Leverkusen director fears the reigning German champions will never be caught again by any of their rivals
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller believes it is impossible for any Bundesliga side to ever close the gap with Bayern Munich again.
The Allianz Arena side have dominated German football in recent years, winning the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal in 2012-13 and 2013-14, while they once more sit top of the league table this term, holding an 11-point lead over second-placed Wolfsburg.
Voller feels the Bavarians are on another level to all their rivals and thinks they are destined to continue their dominance for years to come.
“The gap with Bayern is too big to ever close again,” Voller was quoted as saying by Kicker.
“It is impossible to organise your scouting department in a way that’s good enough to make Bayern even worry. They are on a completely different level.
“Leverkusen tried to keep up with Bayern in the 2000s, but we eventually reached our natural limits. We had to let go.”
Leverkusen currently sit third in the Bundesliga table with 28 points from 17 games, trailing Bayern by a massive 17 points.
