Dost hails 'ice-cold' Wolfsburg after Bayern thrashing

Both the striker and head coach Dieter Hecking believe the entire side can be proud of the way they dismantled the champions on Friday

Bas Dost has hailed Wolfsburg’s “ice-cold” finishing after they beat Bayern Munich 4-1 on Friday evening.

The Dutchman scored two goals – the second an impressive sliced volley – in the first half before Kevin de Bruyne made the scoreline emphatic with his own double in the second 45 minutes.

Pep Guardiola admitted after the match that his side could not live with Wolfsburg’s attacks and Dost was delighted with the way they performed.

“We played very well on the counter and were ice-cold,” he was quoted as saying by the official Bundesliga website.

“The first goal was very fast and the second was just a happy one. We played better until the end. We can be very proud.”

Head coach Dieter Hecking, meanwhile, acknowledged his side delivered a perfect display as they closed to within eight points of the Bundesliga leaders.

“You need a perfect day to beat Bayern like that,” he said.

“We have played a great game of football and the team implemented everything we discussed. We wanted to win the ball back quickly.”

Wolfsburg are back in action with an away game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday.
