Dortmund clash is Bayern's game of the year – Neuer

Jurgen Klopp’s men are 31 points behind the Bundesliga leaders but the goalkeeper feels it is still a crucial match for his side

Manuel Neuer feels Bayern Munich’s meeting with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday is his side’s “game of the year”.

Bayern are 10 points ahead of second-placed Wolfsburg while Dortmund sit in 10th place, 31 points behind their rivals.

Neuer, though, is anticipating a tough match for his side when they clash at the Signal Iduna Park.

“It is still very nice to play in Dortmund. The atmosphere is great, the stadium is sold out. It is the game of the year for us again,” he told reporters.

“This game will always be like a final. For us there is a special importance after we lost against Borussia Monchengladbach in our last game.”

Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and David Alaba are all unavailable due to injury, but Neuer believes Bayern can compensate for their absence.

“You cannot choose when injuries happen. We have to deal with the fact that important players are missing at an important part of the season.

“We have to take care that there won’t be any more injuries. But we know we have a great team, so our goals are the same.”
