Kehl: Bayern always whine about the referee if they lose

The 35-year-old has taken a dig at the freshly crowned Bundesliga champions and cheekily advised them to practice penalties in training

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sebastian Kehl has hit out at Bayern Munich in the wake of Tuesday’s DFB-Pokal semi-final – which BVB won after penalties – and has accused the Allianz Arena side of always trying to blame the referee for any defeats.

Robert Lewandowski gifted Bayern the lead in the opening 45 minutes before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled the scoring after the break to send the game into extra time and then spot kicks.

The German champions felt they should have a penalty in regular playing time, though, with Marcel Schmelzer seemingly handling the ball inside his own area.

Kehl, however, believes Bayern have no reason to blame the official for their defeat, ridiculing them for their inability to convert any of their penalties in the process.

“Bayern are always trying to blame the referee when they lose against us,” Kehl told Sky. “It’s bananas to blame the referee now.

“If Bayern don’t know how to shoot a penalty, they should practice it a bit…”

Dortmund will meet either Wolfsburg or Arminia Bielefeld in the DFB-Pokal final.
