TEAM NEWS: Lewandowski named in starting XI for Bayern's trip to Barcelona

The striker will play wearing a protective mask after fracturing his nose and upper jaw in the DFB-Pokal semi-final defeat to Borussia Dortmund

Pep Guardiola has named Robert Lewandowski in his Bayern Munich side to face Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

The striker fractured his nose and upper jaw in the DFB-Pokal semi-final defeat to Borussia Dortmund, but will play with a protective mask at Camp Nou.

His inclusion is a big boost to a Bayern side who have suffered an injury crisis in recent weeks, with Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and David Alaba among the absentees.

The only notable absence from Barca’s starting XI is Jeremy Mathieu, who was ruled out of the game earlier this week with an Achilles injury, meaning Javier Mascherano partners Gerard Pique at centre-back.

Barcelona: Ter Stegen; Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba, Rakitic, Iniesta, Busquets; Neymar, Messi, Suarez

Bayern Munich: Neuer; Rafinha, Boateng, Benatia; Lahm, Alonso, Schweinsteiger, Thiago, Bernat; Muller, Lewandowski
