Muller: I have a great relationship with Van Gaal

The Germany international says the bond between the pair “goes beyond what is normal between a player and a coach”

Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Muller has revealed the strength of his relationship with Louis van Gaal but played down talk of joining him at Manchester United.

The Dutchman spent two years in charge at the Allianz Arena and handed the Germany international a starring role in his 2009-10 double-winning side.

Last summer there were rumours Van Gaal had made the 25-year-old one of his priority signings upon taking over at Old Trafford, but Muller says he will honour his contract with Bayern.

“It’s a secret for nobody,” he is quoted as saying by The Independent.

“Louis van Gaal and I have a relationship that goes beyond that which is normal between a player and a coach.

“However, I have a contract wtih Bayern until 2017.”
