RB Leipzig confirm Gotze & Klopp interest

The 2. Bundesliga outfit are full of ambition for the future and are keeping an eye on Germany’s World Cup hero as well as ex-Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp

RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has made it clear he would have made a move for Bayern Munich forward Mario Gotze had they already been in Bundesliga.

The second-tier outfit are arguably one of Germany’s most ambitious teams and surprised earlier this summer with the capture of Werder Bremen youngster Davie Selke.

Leipzig are among the favourites to win promotion to the Bundesliga this season and Rangnick has suggested they could table an offer for Gotze in 2016 if his situation at Bayern remains unchanged.

“Gotze? Had we already been in the Bundesliga, I would have looked into the possibility of signing him,” Rangnick told Bild.

“I really rate Gotze as a player. Although wages could be an issue. We cannot just break our entire wage structure.”

Gotze is not RB Leipzig’s only ambitious target, however, as Rangnick could also see Jurgen Klopp become their new head coach in the future.

“Klopp? Why would he not be an option… We have been in touch before. It might not be very likely, but this cannot be ruled out either.

“We would have to win promotion first, however. And obviously Klopp would still have to be available.”
