Chelsea ‘Angered’ as Bayern Munich Sporting Director Comments on Callum Hudson-Odoi Pursuit

?Chelsea have been left angered by Bayern Munich after the German club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic publicly admitted the club’s desire to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Having already gone public in his admiration for Hudson-Odoi, Salihamidzic once again spoke to the media about his club’s ?determination to sign the winger. The Blues have reportedly received four bids from Bayern for Hudson-Odoi, the latest of which is said to stand at around £35m.

News of ?Chelsea’s frustrations comes from the ?Evening Standard, who state that Maurizio Sarri’s side feel as though Salihamidzic is being unprofessional in his approach for Hudson-Odoi.

They suspect that ?Bayern have been illegally approaching Hudson-Odoi, but are yet to submit an official complaint to FIFA as they lack proof of Bayern’s activities.

After Salihamidzic’s first comments on Hudson-Odoi, Sarri accused Bayern of lacking respect. He said: “I think it’s not professional, because they are talking about a player under contract with Chelsea. So they didn’t respect our club.”

The youngster has just 18 months remaining on his current deal, and Chelsea remain desperate to convince the 18-year-old to renew his contract at the club. They hope to offer Hudson-Odoi regular game time between now and the end of the season, in the belief that that could persuade Hudson-Odoi to sign.

He is widely viewed as one of the club’s most exciting young prospects in recent years, and many fans have pleaded with Sarri to afford the winger more game time. However, he is yet to start a ?Premier League match and has seen just 51 minutes of action in the competition.

According to the Evening Standard, Hudson-Odoi’s post read: “Don’t always believe what you hear.” It has since been deleted, but it has been speculated that this post was in response to the rumours of a transfer request.

Sporting Director Suggests Bayern Could Sign James Rodriguez Permanently Amid Links to Arsenal

?Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has dismissed reports linking on-loan midfielder James Rodriguez with a move to Arsenal.

Rodriguez is in the final six months of a two-year loan deal from Real Madrid, but has fallen out of favour under new manager Niko Kovac. Reports emerged recently suggesting that Bayern were keen to terminate Rodriguez’s deal and allow Arsenal to secure a six-month loan deal.

James Rodriguez

However, in an interview with Bild (via ?Metro), Salihamidzic insisted that ?Bayern will use the last six months of the season to decide whether they want to sign ?Rodriguez permanently or not.

He said: “We will look at the second half of the season and we will draw the right conclusions.”

Salihamidzic then rejected claims that Bayern could look to sign Rodriguez and instantly sell him on for a profit, saying: “This is not Bayern’s style.

“If we decide to sign a player, then he also remains a part of Bayern.”

?Arsenal are thought to only be able to pursue loan deals this winter, as a lack of transfer funds has left them struggling to add to their squad. With midfielder ?Aaron Ramsey set to join ?Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the season, Arsenal would need to sell another player before reinvesting those funds.

Mesut Ozil

?Mesut Ozil is one of the players who has been heavily linked with an exit from the club. The 30-year-old has reportedly fallen out of favour under Unai Emery, and has been linked with a move to the likes of ?Inter and Juventus, and it is thought that Arsenal are keen to arrange a permanent deal for the German.

He has missed several games this season due to injury, although there has been much speculation that clashes between Ozil and Emery are to blame for the former’s absence from the matchday squad.

Meanwhile, Leipzig bound Julian Nagelsmann is seeking a first win in seven outings with current seventh place side Hoffenheim, after drawing their last six.

Victors in the corresponding fixture last term, the hosts will be no pushovers as they look to repeat a third home win on the bounce over the Bavarians.

Team News

Hoffenheim midfielder Lukas Rupp could face a late fitness test ahead of the clash, in an otherwise injury-free squad. Meanwhile, Brazilian forward Joelinton is set to lead the line once more as he seeks a fifth league goal.

?Bayern have been dealt a blow after Franck Ribery suffered a ?hamstring injury during their recent training camp in Doha.

The Frenchman, who had featured in 14 league games, joins Arjen Robben and Corentin Tolisso on the sidelines – with both having made just made a handful of appearances thus far.

Predicted Lineups

Hoffenheim? ?Baumann; Posch, Vogt, Hubner; Nelson, Demirbay, Grillitisch, Schulz; Zuber, Joelinton, Grifo.
?Bayern Munich ?Neuer; Rafinha, Sule, Boateng, Alaba; Martinez, Muller, Kimmich, Thiago, Coman; Lewandowski.

Head to Head Record

The sides have met on 22 occasions in the Bundesliga, with Bayern recording 14 wins to Hoffenheim’s mere two, with six ending in stalemate.

Robert Lewandowski,Thomas Mueller,Leon Goretzka

Goals from Robert Lewandowski, ?Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich ??handed Bayern a 3-1 victory at the Allianz Arena in Kovac’s first league game in charge.

Recent Form

As alluded to, Hoffenheim have proven tough to beat this term and are currently unbeaten in their last 11 league games.

Sitting three points off the last Europa League place, the hosts will be seeking an improved second period as they look to emulate a third place finished achieved last term – in Nagelsmann’s culminating season before his departure to Leipzig in the summer.

Julian Nagelsmann

Bayern on the other hand, find themselves unusually second best. The 28 time Bundesliga winners have endured an inconsistent campaign by their standards. They’ve won just half of their eight home games, notably suffering a shock 3-0 ?defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach in October.

However, on the back of a five game winning streak, the form of Polish frontman Lewandowski could be vital if they’re to catch ?Dortmund, having scored 10 in 16 outings.

Here’s how each team has faired in the last five fixtures:

?Hoffenheim ?Bayern Munich
?Hoffenheim 1-1 Mainz (23/12) ?Eintract Frankfurt 0-3 Bayern Munich (22/12)
?Werder Bremen 1-1 Hoffenheim (19/12) ?Bayern Munich 1-0 Leipzig (19/12)
?Hoffenheim 0-0 Monchengladbach (15/12) ?Hannover 0-4 Bayern Munich (15/12)
?Manchester City 2-1 Hoffenheim (12/12) ?Ajax 3-3 Bayern Munich (12/12)
?Wolfsburg 2-2 Hoffenheim (08/12) ?Bayern Munich 4-0 Nurnberg (08/12)

Prediction

Proving a bogey ground for the visitors in recent times, this fixture makes for interesting reading as they look to kick off 2019 in style.

The miss of influential veteran Ribery could hamper Kovac’s outfit, but boast one of Europe’s deadly finishers in Lewandowski as they attempt to crack down a side unbeaten since the end of September.

Sven Mislintat Could Leave Arsenal for Bayern Munich Amid Behind the Scenes Chaos

?Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat could be set to leave the London club after only a year, following a breakdown in relationships behind the scenes.

Sources close to the club suggest that Mislintat has quickly grown frustrated with the new regime at Arsenal – headed by director of football Raul Sanllehi – as he feels that his opinion is not always respected.

The ?Independent reports that ?Bayern Munich are hoping to capitalise on Mislintat’s uncertainty by making him a tempting offer to return to Germany and help them overhaul his former side ?Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga.

Mislintat was credited with creating one of the most sophisticated talent-spotting networks in world football during his time at Dortmund, helping to bring through talents such as ?Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Shinji Kagawa and ?Ousmane Dembele.

It was therefore seen as a major coup in November 2017 when Mislintat was appointed at Arsenal, and he delivered on his reputation by raiding his former club for Aubameyang two months later.

Mislintat also helped to negotiate deals for the likes of Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos last summer following the appointment of Unai Emery.

However, Emery has apparently started to take a more active role in transfers than Mislintat had anticipated. ?Arsenal’s new structure was intended to limit a head coach’s control in that respect, to prevent the all-encompassing power which Arsene Wenger possessed.

FBL-ENG-PR-WEST HAM-ARSENAL

Arsenal had hoped that Mislintat would be the man to give their squad a shake-up and restore them to the pinnacle of English football, but it looks like that plan may be cut short with Bayern waiting in the wings.

Bayern’s squad is also in need of renovation and they will provide significantly more funds for Mislintat to work with if he agrees to join them.

Callum Hudson-Odoi Ready to Play Hardball Over Crucial Chelsea Renewal to Force Bayern Move

?Callum Hudson-Odoi will try to force Chelsea to part ways with him this month, with Bayern Munich publically confirming their interest in the 18-year-old.

A bid in the region of £35m is on the table from the reigning German champions, and the ?Mail report that the exciting teenage prodigy is ready to refuse any contract extension offered by the Blues – leaving them facing the prospect of losing him cheaply in the coming summer or even for free 12 months later.

Callum Hudson-Odoi,Matt Ritchie

Hudson-Odoi’s issues with ?Chelsea are, by all accounts, about the amount of playing time he will get in Maurizio Sarri’s system rather than any financial package that is being offered – with a growing number of young English players moving to top European leagues to earn chances to develop and prove themselves.

Jadon Sancho has become the poster boy for the growing movement towards the continent, making the switch from ?Manchester City to ?Borussia Dortmund 18 months ago. A disrupted 2017/18 campaign saw him feature 12 times in the ?Bundesliga as he settled into the squad, but increased game time and improved performance this season have seen him score six times and rack up seven assists – sitting second in the entire league for goals set up.

Hudson-Odoi’s talents have been ranked alongside Sancho’s, with the latter even telling his close friend to quit Chelsea for Germany, leaving the Blues with a difficult decision. If he leaves for a foreign club at the end of his contract, Chelsea are only likely to be due around £500,000 in compensation.

The only way to keep Hudson-Odoi, as it stands, would be to significantly increase his game time. With Maurizio Sarri seemingly unwilling to bend on that point, the Blues now risk losing one of the great English prospects for a pittance.

In the meantime, they could always loan him out to the Eredivisie.
